The Plymouth styling department experimented with several different approaches until the final looks of the 1969 Furys were agreed upon. The top clay model applies in one front end two different versions of how the vertically stacked headlights used in 1965 - 1968 could be continued with the new cars. A mirror in the middle would give executives a chance to see an entire version of either design. The two cars below were photographed in May 1966 and featured heavier bumpers. Previous model's bumpers were criticized as being too easy to damage. The final styling is already visible.
